Before Mountain Vista Farm, I was using heavily, not sleeping, not being happy with my day-to-day life. I got very worked up about small things. I used a lot of drugs and alcohol and I thought that was the answer.

I used drugs and alcohol to mask my feelings and pretty much every day. I was just using drugs by myself. It was more than just partying. It was something I had to do every day. Then, I found Mountain Vista Farm through a friend that wanted to help me.

After I got into a lot of trouble with the law, I just thought: “No more. There’s got to be a better way.” I realized I needed help and I couldn’t do it on my own.

The reality was that I never wanted to go into drug treatment, but my friend suggested it and then brought me up here for a tour. From then on I thought: this was the place to go!

It has a nice setting, the staff is great, the food is great, the people are good, and I had a very excellent counselor. I just felt at home on that tour and I went after that first day.

The counselors definitely understood me and worked with me on my problems. I felt that they really understood me: like they’ve been here before. That was helpful. Before, I felt hopeless and really never I never really wanted to work on myself. After I got in trouble with the law, through Mountain Vista Farm and the counselors, I learned that there was a better way.

It took a lot of work, but eventually I got a hold of a few good tools. I learned a few good things that helped me do what I needed to do to stay off of drugs and alcohol. My experience here was helpful to me and I would suggest it to anybody. There is a better way. You just need a few tools: and here they have tools for everybody.  This is a place where you can work on yourself and help yourself.

Then, I came back here to help other people: that helped me so much.  Mountain Vista Farm is like my family, and I still come back: It’s just a great place.
