Frequently Asked Questions

What is dual diagnosis and how is it treated?

Dual diagnosis means you are dealing with both a substance use disorder and a mental health condition such as anxiety, depression, or trauma. At Mountain Vista Farm, both conditions are treated at the same time through an integrated approach. This includes therapy, psychiatric support, and structured programming that helps you understand how these conditions are connected.

Treating both together improves long-term outcomes and reduces the risk of relapse. You receive a personalized treatment plan that addresses your emotional, mental, and physical health so you can build a stable and lasting recovery.

What does holistic treatment include?

Holistic treatment focuses on healing the whole person, not just the addiction. At Mountain Vista Farm, this includes activities like yoga, meditation, fitness, and mindfulness training. You also benefit from proper nutrition through chef-prepared meals and wellness-focused routines. These approaches help reduce stress, improve emotional balance, and support physical health.

Holistic care works alongside evidence-based therapies like CBT and trauma-informed treatment, giving you a more complete recovery experience that supports both your mental clarity and overall well-being.

Is medical detox available on-site?

Yes, Mountain Vista Farm provides medically supervised detox as part of its residential program. Detox is supported by medical professionals who monitor your safety and manage withdrawal symptoms using approved medications when needed. This may include Medication Assisted Treatment to help reduce cravings and discomfort. You also receive psychiatric evaluation and ongoing clinical support during this phase.

The goal is to help you stabilize safely so you can transition into the next phase of treatment feeling clear, supported, and ready to engage in recovery.

How many rooms or beds are available?

The residential facility at Mountain Vista Farm has 30 beds. Rooms are designed to be comfortable and supportive, with shared or semi-private options available. You also have access to common areas, outdoor spaces, and therapeutic rooms that support your daily routine. The setting allows for both community connection and personal space, helping you stay engaged in treatment while also having time to rest and reflect.

“Mountain Vista Farm is the oldest rehab in California dating back to 1949. A beautiful country setting with old buildings and a feeling of summer camp. The staff are very warm and welcoming, always there for a hug or a listening ear. The food is top notch! Salmon, steaks, gyros, chicken and loads of salad (green and fruit) at every lunch/dinner. Also, plenty of healthy snacks 24 hours a day. Most insurances cover the costs and they will work with you if private pay is necessary. I give it 5 stars.”

“I don’t normally leave reviews, but I wanted to make a comment to any staff that reads this:
Thank you so much for providing everyone a support system on the farm to help us grow as human beings. I left the farm almost 8 years ago now, and I’ve been sober ever since. his facility and its staff really helped me and when I get a car I would love to come up and visit. I am now a SUD I counselor giving back to my community because I know what it feels like to start recovery, alone.”
