Trusted Drug Detox Center
As a trusted drug detox center, Mountain Vista Farm helps you withdraw safely from a wide range of substances. This includes opioids such as heroin, Vicodin, and OxyContin, as well as methamphetamine, marijuana, benzodiazepines like Xanax and Valium, and other drugs. Each detox process is guided by a team that understands the severity of withdrawal and how it affects your body and brain chemistry.
Our approach to substance abuse treatment focuses on stabilizing your physical and emotional health while reducing cravings and minimizing risk. Every treatment plan is tailored to your history, level of chemical dependency, and overall well being, giving you a strong start toward lasting recovery.
Safe Detox for Alcohol Withdrawal
Detoxing from alcohol can be dangerous without proper care. Alcohol withdrawal symptoms may include shaking, confusion, elevated heart rate, and in severe cases, seizures or life-threatening complications. Attempting to manage alcohol withdrawal alone puts you at higher risk, especially if your symptoms are intense or long-term.
At Mountain Vista Farm, our alcohol detox program provides structured medical detoxification in a safe environment. With 24/7 medical care and medication management, we help reduce discomfort while monitoring your general health. This level of support ensures your detoxification process is handled safely, giving you the best chance at a stable healing process.
Medical Detox Treatment Programs
Our medical detox services are part of comprehensive treatment programs designed to support both your physical and emotional needs. During the detox process, our team evaluates your symptoms, provides appropriate medications, and monitors your progress closely. This structured approach helps stabilize you and minimize your discomfort while reducing the chance of early relapse.
Because substance use disorders often involve co-occurring mental health challenges, our care also includes psychiatric support when needed. Our treatment center combines clinical expertise with compassionate care, ensuring that every part of your detoxification is managed safely before transitioning into the next phase of treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I safely detox from drug addiction?
The safest way to safely detox from drug addiction is in a licensed facility with trained medical professionals. During detox, your body goes through significant changes as it clears substances, which can lead to uncomfortable or dangerous withdrawal symptoms. A professional detox process includes medical supervision, medication management, and ongoing monitoring to reduce risk and manage discomfort. Take note that attempting detox alone increases the chance of complications and early relapse. A professional setting also connects you to continued substance abuse treatment, helping you move forward in the full recovery process with the right support and resources.
Is detox part of an opioid treatment program for opioid use disorder?
Yes, detox is often the first step in an opioid treatment program for opioid use disorder. It helps stabilize your system by safely managing withdrawal from opioids like heroin or prescription pain medications. However, detox alone is not a complete substance use disorder treatment.
Long-term recovery requires continued care through therapy, relapse prevention, and structured programs. At Mountain Vista Farm, detox is integrated into a broader plan that may include residential care and step-down options.
Do I need residential or outpatient services after detox?
After detox, most individuals benefit from an inpatient program rather than immediately transitioning to outpatient services. Detox addresses the physical side of addiction, but ongoing treatment is needed to support emotional and psychological healing.
Many patients also face co-occurring mental health conditions, which require continuous care and therapy, commonly referred to as dual diagnosis. Residential treatment provides a stable environment, daily support, and a clear path forward in the recovery process. While outpatient care can be helpful later, starting with a higher level of care reduces the risk of relapse and supports a more complete and lasting recovery.
Is it safe to detox at home?
Detoxing at home is not recommended, especially for individuals with moderate to severe substance abuse or alcohol withdrawal. Without medical supervision, the risk of serious complications increases, including dehydration, severe withdrawal symptoms, and seizures. Even when symptoms seem manageable, they can escalate quickly.
A professional treatment center provides the structure, monitoring, and aid needed to keep you safe throughout the detoxification process. You also gain access to immediate care if complications arise.
Is detox painful?
Detox can involve discomfort, but it does not have to be overwhelming or unbearable. Symptoms vary depending on the type of substance, length of use, and overall health. You may experience anxiety, restlessness, or physical symptoms as your body adjusts.
In a professional setting, medical detoxification includes medications and supportive care to reduce discomfort and manage cravings. The goal is to make the experience as safe and manageable as possible.

“Mountain Vista Farm is the oldest rehab in California dating back to 1949. A beautiful country setting with old buildings and a feeling of summer camp. The staff are very warm and welcoming, always there for a hug or a listening ear. The food is top notch! Salmon, steaks, gyros, chicken and loads of salad (green and fruit) at every lunch/dinner. Also, plenty of healthy snacks 24 hours a day. Most insurances cover the costs and they will work with you if private pay is necessary. I give it 5 stars.”
